Robert Granfeldt, Jr. is a seasoned media executive with more than 40 years of experience in newspapers, magazines, and digital publishing. He has served as publisher or general manager of seven community newspapers, most recently overseeing Hearst’s four West Texas publications. Prior to that, he was Regional Publisher for GateHouse West Texas (Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and the Amarillo Globe-News) and General Manager of 360 West Magazine in Fort Worth.

From 2013 to 2016, Robert was President and Publisher of The Montgomery Advertiser in Alabama. He also held senior leadership roles with Southern Community Newspapers in Atlanta and Morris Communications in Augusta, where he guided digital growth and revenue strategies. His career began in 1984 at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and included key positions at the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville and the launch of LubbockOnline.com, one of the region’s earliest newspaper websites.

Robert and his wife, Karen, have been married since 1982 and have three sons. Away from publishing, he enjoys woodworking, metalwork, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, and traveling—especially to visit family in the British Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
