Matt Guthrie
Regional President
ENC
Matt embarked on his career in the newspaper industry shortly after graduating from the University of Georgia. He began with small weekly publications, where he immersed himself in every aspect of the business. These formative experiences shaped him into the collaborative and entrepreneurial leader he is today.
His first management role was at the Roanoke Beacon in Plymouth, NC where he served as publisher and editor. He later took his talents to Mississippi, where he served as Publisher of the Delta Democrat Times in Greenville, honing his production abilities.
Matt moved to Gatehouse Media following Gatehouse’s acquisition of Morris Media. He relocated to the Dallas area to take on the role of Regional Vice President for the Southwest Division, overseeing 60 publications across seven states and working with 14 publishers.
When Gatehouse merged with Gannett, the newly formed entity adopted a functional operations model that separated editorial, advertising, and operational budgets. Matt moved to Gannett Publication Services division, where he was tasked with overseeing distribution and manufacturing across seven states.
After leaving Gannett, Matt took a different direction in his career, becoming the COO of Audioengine, a boutique speaker company with a staff of 14. In this role, he returned to a hands-on approach, managing every aspect of the operation—from manufacturing in China to global delivery.
Currently, Matt resides in Texas with his fiancé, Sheri and their furkids, Samuel and Bailey. He enjoys playing golf and reading both fiction and historical biographies focused on America’s early founders.
